CST #3- Rights and Responsibilities

This CST is used to show that each person has rights and reponsibilities as a human being. This CST shows that the world would have perfect communities and togetherness only if each individuals rights and responsibilites are met. The idea of rights and reponsibilities are not only actions that a person must take, but actions that people have to make for that specific person. This CST relates to our project becuase it is our right and our responsibility to take action and protect the environment. Every person needs to take the action necessary to save the earth.

CST #4- Option for the Poor and the Vulnerable

What this CST is discussing is that we should put the poor and the vulnerable's needs first, since they are the ones that are suffering the most in the world. We should work to make them better beofre thinking about how we can help ourselves. This relates to our CST because when Global Warming becomes worse, it will be dangerous and hard to live. The poor and the vulnerable would be the people most in danger because they may not have places to live, or even enough money to survive though the tough time. People need to work together and help these people get through the tough time.

CST #5- The Dignity of Work and Rights of Workers

This CST decsribes that the economy needs to keep jobs flowing and respect the workers rights so that the economy will keep thriving. This CST also describes that working is a way to give back to the world. This CST relates to our topic of Global Warming because in order to keep finding solutions to the climate problems, we must keep the people's jobs to research it. Also with more jobs being used and the workers being respected, the workers will want to work harder, and through that they would possibly find an answer to this clomate crisis.

CST #6- Solidarity

What this CST is talking about is that as a group the people of the world need to be in harmony with

one another and have the same interests for one another. If we do not function together as a whole then we will not be able to make right decisions and there will be chaos. This CST relates to our topic of Global Warming because it shows that we all need to work together and have the same interests or we wont be able to save our earth. Global warming needs to be reversed and for any action like this to happen we need to all work together to make a big change in our communities.

CST #7- Care for Gods Creation

What this CST is talking about is that everyone should treat our earth with care and respect. This has been forgotten in the past couple hundred years because our world has been so caught up in making better technology that it has been hurting the environment that we live in. We are living with and on God’s creation and we need to treat it better so that we can keep living on it without consequences. This CST relates directly to out topic of Global Warming because the emissions we are putting out into the air is slowly killing the earth and everything on it. We need to stop Global Warming and take care of God’s creation so that we our future relatives can live on a healthier earth then we do right now.

Second Post Assignment- CST #1 and #2

Catholic Social Teaching and the Problem of Global Warming

Our social justice topic is on Global Warming, also known as climate change. The main reason for this climate change is because of the increased amount of greenhouse gases we are producing. Greater amounts of light have penetrated the earth's surface, increasing the temperature. Since the temperature is rising, the ice caps around the world have slower been deteriorating. We are called to make a change and help save our environment.

CST #1- Life and the Dignity of the Human Person

What this CST is talking about is that every life should be considered important and sacred. There is no life that does not matter. Every life has a purpose and a meaning behind it. No life should be taken for granted and no life should be thought of as useless and unimportant. This CST relates to our topic of Global Warming because it shows that every persons life is sacred. Global Warming is creating an environment that we soon will no longer be able to live in. People's lives are at risk because of a change that no one is making. If every life is sacred, then people should make the change in Global Warming so no lives will be lost in the future.

CST #2- Call to Family, Community, and Participation

What this CST is talking about is how every family and community has the right to be treated well and given a chance to survive. Everyone deserves to be able to live their life the way they want without the constant worry of being injured of killed and this takes participation from everyone so that they will all be safe in society. This CST relates to our topic of Global Warming because it states that every person deserves the right to live and this can be done as a community by making the world more environmentally friendly. Global Warming is causing our world to slowly start deteriorating and if it is not changed by the global community then we will not be able to survive and lives will be lost. Every life is worth something so we need to change our bad habits to protect our planet.

Introduction

Our Social Justice topic is Climate Change, also known as Global Warming. This disaster in the making is the increase in the temperature of the earth’s near-surface air since the mid 20th century and its projected continuation. Most of the observed temperature increase since the middle of the 20th century was very likely caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases resulting from human activity such as fossil fuel burning and deforestation. This topic connects to social justice because the earth is Gods creation and we are destroying it and that is unholy.

My name is Dominic Rodiack and I am a senior at Serra. I was interested in Global Warming because it is a topic that effects not just people in 3rd world countries or people in the ghetto, but it affects everyone I know and that changes my view on how we should treat our environment. I have also been interested in electric powered cars for a while because they are a cool new innovation and they were made at first because of the environmental problems that we are having by going green and not using fossil fuels. Being green and economically friendly has now become and important part of my life because I feel that the earth is more important then anything.

My name is Morgan Petiti and I am also a senior at Serra. I have an interest in Global Warming because since I was little, I was taught to always go green. I was told to recycle, use greener cars, and to do anything I could to make this environment better. Since learning about Global Warming and the effects that it has on everyone around us, I feel that people also need to start to learn to be greener. There are simple steps to help this environment go back to how it use to be, and with the help of this project, I hope to project these solutions and make this world a grrener world.
